Homework is listed the day it is assigned in class.  It is due the 
following day unless otherwise specified. 

December 18:
1.  Write text for Colony Project Presentation!  

December 17:
1.  Finish Project Paper.

December 10-14:
Good job, classes!  
You've earned a week off from homework.  Make sure you are all caught up, 
work well in class, and you are homework free!  
If you don't finish classwork, you will have homework.  If you have missing work,
you should catch up!  
If you have a low grade, you should do extra credit and test corrections!

December 7:
1.  History Review Sheet - Define terms from Aztec to Wigwam.  

December 6:
1.  Write 3 pages, front and back, of Category Notes for your Colony Project.  
2.  Come up with a Project Plan.  
    Match categories/themes with each part of your project. 
    For example:  Paper - Roles of sexes, kids and Economy (mainly food)
                  Presentation - Skit with colonist and native american showing 
                                 some examples of conflicts, main items traded,
                                 and including some info on foods eaten
                  3D - diorama of shelters (or sample of foods, or replica of 
                        clothing)
                  Poster - Climate and Geography, Religion
                  
3.  Brainstorm Paper Ideas:  You already stated what you want to cover in your 
paper.  Now brainstorm what you want to say.  You must have at least 15 ideas.  
For example, if you are thinking of "Roles of sexes and kids, and the Economy", 
you may brainstorm ideas such as:  
Women in X colony worked just as hard as men
Why I would want to be a kid in 1650 in X colony
Why I wouldn't want to 
Only men had contact with outsiders (Native Americans, England)
Free time in the colonies vs. free time nowadays
What modern kids can learn from X colony kids
Why X colony was the best colony for women
Why colony X wouldn't have survived without women


December 4 / December 5:
1.  Finish reading 114 - 117.  
2.  Answer a) What are 4 Quaker beliefs?
           b) How did Penn attract people to Pennsylvania?
           c) Write a 5 sentence summary of the early Georgia colony.  
3.  BRING COLONY PROJECT SOURCES to class on Thursday the 6th!  

December 3:
1.  Finish reading through page 114. 
    Answer questions 1 and 2 on page 117.
    Write a 5 sentence summary of the starting of the Carolinas.  

November 30:
Start your Colony Project Notes.  
1.  Locate the sections of the textbook that tell about the start of "your 
    colony".  Write the titles and page numbers of all relevant sections.  
2.  Take "Category Notes" on your colony.  2 pages, front and back.  

November 29:
Define and/or describe the first ten words on the History Review Sheet.  

November 28:
Read pages 108-110.
Answer questions #2 and #5 on page 110.  

November 27:
Read pages 104-108.

November 21:
Thanksgiving Homework.  Obtain parent/guardian signatures on the Thanksgiving
Homework Handout for teaching/conversing with family members about the Puritan
Separatists, the Wampanoag, and all the other terms on the handout.  

November 15:
Jamestown Book
Write a book including at least five of the Jamestown/Virgina Colony terms from 
the class lecture.  Include appropriate and relevant visuals.  Prepare to
present.  You will be graded on: 
Explanation of terms, story-telling in own words (10)
Representative and creative visuals (5)
Organization, logical structure, title and cover, name (5)
Loud, clear, enthusiastic presentation (5)
Total grade possible (25)

November 13: 
Read pages 95-98.  
Take notes on all of the following -

November 9: 
 Answer the following 3 questions about Jamestown. 
1.  Why did the Jamestown colonists want to leave England and risk traveling 
    to the Americas? 
2.  Describe Jamestown's "Rough Start." 
3.  Describe the relationship between the Jamestown colonists and the nearby 
    Native Americans.  
    
November 8:
Make a poster of at least 4 panels.  Tell about the beginnings of the Protestant 
Reformation OR tell the story of the mysterious Roanoke settlements.  

November 7: 
Labeling Homework
1.  What does the song Saltapa'tras say about racial categories in Spanish 
    Colonial times?  What is the song's message? 
2.  What are some labels you are given?  Do you like them?  Why or why not?
3.  Explain how labeling can be harmful.  


November 5:
1.  Ch. 3.2 Create a crossword and 
2.  Do a classmate's crossword.  
3.  Study for Test 3.2
